Happy New Year Everyone!! Well I wonder what joys it will bring?!
I was a little quieter in the cake decorating world Sept to December, but certainly not quieter generally! I undertook a 3 month temporary contract working 5 days a week - nearly killed me! - but all ended now, so back to creating cakes and cookie loveliness!

Finally, after trying my patience for a further 48 hours before I could decorate them - I was armed with four colours of Royal Icing - and some pretty sprinkles and no one was going to get in my way!! The photos below show how they turned out and even if i say so myself, they make a fab gift in the mugs or a vase! They're great for Mothering Sunday, Easter, Birthdays or a Thank You present - useable, pretty and delicious - what more could you want from a prezzie?

Well!! Here goes - my first 'proper' blog!! Will be consulting with my expert blogging friend later on in the week to see if I've done it right, but with my inimitable style of a bull in a china shop - I'm giving it a go now!!
Anyone who follows me on Facebook (a gob smacking 340 in my first 2 months!!) will know I was eagerly awaiting my mini cookie cutters!! I am an absolute sucker for anything in minature and in my book it automatically gets labelled as 'cute!' So I was sooo looking forward to getting my set to start making my cute cookies!!
The said tin of 24 cutters jangled through the door in their tin and I opened them with all the wonder of a child on Christmas morning!! Only to be blown away by exactly how small the smallest were!! There were 3 cutters of each shape in the tin - a total of 24 sparkly little cutters to do all sorts with! But the littlies - awwwwwww - look at them!! A 0ne pence piece is bigger than the heart and star ones!! So I decided to use the middle sized one - a more suitable mini size for what I had in mind!!
I was after a recipe that made a nice crisp biscuit, rather than a soft American type cookie! In the UK we do like a nice crisp biccie! Give me a soft Party Ring and we'll fall out - it's stale! Anyway, fellow cakey friends on Facebook recommended a Peggy Porschen recipe. Luckily I had just purchased her book 'Pretty Party Cakes' which had a recipe in, which I decided to give a go! My poor little mixer did struggle to do what was required of it! The mixture, for ages was such a dry consistency I was beginning to think I had done something wrong, but finally after a bit of kneading and squidging together (a technical term I think you'll find!) it all came together - literally!! I had my cookie dough!!
At last I could get my cutters cutting!! Not yet, the dough had to go into the fridge for a good hour! I'm a red head - I'm not good at being patient!! So washing up done, a nosey on Facebook with a cuppa and I could get cracking!! Because the cutters being so small I got 4 whole baking trays full of cookies out of the dough! I actually used all 3 sizes of the cutters to see which I liked the best - well you have to when they're new! So we also had some of the tiny ones in too - which only took a matter of 4 minutes to cook!! The kitchen smelled divine!
Then the 'p' word had to come into play again - wait 48ish hours before icing, so that no grease spots come up through the icing! Then finally today - I got to do the good bit and decorate them!! I'll post photos tomorrow as to how they turned out!!
